The Precision Camera success story

When Jerry and Rosemary Sullivan opened a camera repair business in 1976, it operated out of the spare bedroom in their home.

With a baby on the way, the pair scraped by while Jerry worked at another local camera repair shop until they saved enough to open their first retail location.

Three buildings and many years later, the business has grown to become the largest camera store in Texas selling new and used cameras, providing rentals, doing repairs, and offering classes to the public.

However, with this growth came new challenges, particularly with its online store.

Precision Camera started looking for an ecommerce platform that could accommodate its large inventory and customer experience needs, and landed on BigCommerce.

We knew we needed an ecommerce platform that could accommodate our inventory of 6,500+ products, but we also wanted to be sure that it had the various shopping options our customers have come to expect from our brand, too – things like pre-orders, in-store pickup or delivery, or discounted shipping.

BigCommerce had all of the above and more. The backend makes it easy for us to manage products and incoming orders, and the customizable front end makes our website easy for customers to shop and buy items.

In addition, we love the searchability of our products on BigCommerce. This was a huge reason we picked the platform. The keyword feature for each product makes it easy for our customers to find the product they need via the search tool built into our website.
